Technically speaking, ASP.NET MVC is far superior to Web Forms. This is because it’s newer and was designed around an alternate and more modern set of principles and patterns. Is this sufficient reason for you to switch to it? In my opinion, it isn’t. ASP.NET MVC is an excellent choice from the perspective of developers, but that fact alone doesn’t automatically translate into a tangible benefit for the customer and the project. Moreover, ASP.NET MVC is much less forgiving than Web Forms and requires training, or at least self-training.
In 10 years of using Web Forms, I’ve seen many professionals with limited programming skills produce effective Web front ends using data-bound controls and a bit of Microsoft Visual Basic. This will not happen with ASP.NET MVC. Worse yet, if you start writing ASP.NET MVC code taking the learn-as-you-go approach that worked for many with Web Forms, you will surely cook up great examples of much hated spaghetti code.
So learning ASP.NET MVC makes you a better developer, but it has a cost. Who’s supposed to pay for that? Your customer? Your company? You, yourself? How would you justify to a project manager the extra training costs for just using ASP.NET MVC? You can try, but the natural objection is this: “OK, but where’s my return? Can’t we take this project home by simply using Web Forms, which we already know through and through?”

“It makes programming fun again!” is a cliché among geeks; all too often it’s used to extol the virtues of some newfangled programming language or platform. But I honestly think there’s no better aphorism to describe iPhone graphics programming. Whether you’re a professional or a hobbyist, I hope this book can play a small role in helping you rediscover the joy of programming.
This book is not an OpenGL manual, but it does teach many basic OpenGL concepts as a means to an end, namely, 3D graphics programming on the iPhone and iPod touch. Much of the book is written in a tutorial style, and I encourage you to download the sample code and play with it. Readers don’t need a graphics background, nor do they need any experience with the iPhone SDK. A sound understanding of C++ is required;

Often, you will find comments embedded in the code to explain nonobvious
This book is not strictly a language/library book. Besides covering the
Since an understanding of programming helps those who exploit, and an understanding of exploitation helps those who program, many hackers do both. There are interesting hacks found in both the techniques used to write elegant code and the techniques used to exploit programs. Hacking is really just the act of finding a clever and counterintuitive solution to a problem.
The hacks found in program exploits usually use the rules of the computer to bypass security in ways never intended. Programming hacks are similar in that they also use the rules of the computer in new and inventive ways, but the final goal is efficiency or smaller source code, not necessarily a security compromise. There are actually an infinite number of programs that can be written to accomplish any given task, but most of these solutions are unnecessarily large, complex, and sloppy. The few solutions that remain are small, efficient, and neat. Programs that have these qualities are said to have elegance, and the clever and inventive solutions that tend to lead to this efficiency are called hacks. Hackers on both sides of programming appreciate both the beauty of elegant code and the ingenuity of clever hacks.

release of MSBuild, there has been a need for a defi nitive reference. Inside the Microsoft Build
the MSBuild team has been involved right from the beginning.
MSBuild fi les are just XML fi les. Starting with Visual Studio 2005 managed projects use the
MSBuild fi le format. Because of this you are able to fi ne-tune, or even completely change, how
your projects are built. Using MSBuild you can customize your build process by adding steps
such as code generation, unit testing, or code analysis. You can also use MSBuild to assist in
automating the build and deployment process, as well as implementing continuous integration.

Data-driven development focuses on storing application structures in a database and deriving
application functionality from the data structure itself, though few applications are entirely data-driven.
A Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) system is one such type of application. Users of a
LIMS system need to create definitions for various data elements they require in the process of
laboratory research. It is, in effect, a scaled-down version of the Visual Studio IDE. You must dynamically
generate data tables and drag and drop controls on a form. Each of the data elements may require data
validation that’s written in C# or VB.NET source code and compiled at runtime to check the data and
provide feedback to those performing data entry to the system.

Normally, you’ll never need to use data-driven programming in such an extensive fashion. A more
common use of these techniques is found in off-the-shelf applications that give you some level of
customization that the software publisher couldn’t foresee. For example, an accounting system may
have a data-entry form for entering invoices. Suppose the user’s business model requires that each
invoice be associated with a given delivery truck, but no delivery truck field is available. Using datadriven
programming techniques, you can let the user define a text box (or a combo box) for entry and
storage of a truck number, position it on the accounts receivable screen, and establish rules for
validating the data entered into it. Then, whenever the accounts receivable form is displayed, it will
include a delivery-truck field ready for data entry.
